The first Sunday Market of the year was yesterday, August 2nd, and it was a great success! We had many different vendors with products such as organic blueberries, magnetic jewellery, lavender products, alpaca wool, chocolate covered pretzals, celtic tarot reading and more! When the vendors were done the market they left very excitted to come back this coming Sunday, August 9th. The music was done by Matthew Martin; He played classical guitar and it was very well recieved! It was a great day to sit in the sun and listen to music while having a snack and sample of wine. On Sunday, August 9th we will be having our second Sunday Market, there will be even more vendors attending, a BBQ to support LOVIS (local young child battling cancer) and the music will be done by Mike Aube from Rustbucket! The Sunday Market here at Gaspereau Vineyards will be heard from 12:30pm - 4:30pm so come relax, savor and enjoy local Nova Scotia products with us! Join us on Twitter to celebrate #winewednesday!

We're also at the Kentville and Kingston markets today. Stop by for a sample, and say hi to Andrea and Tony. Weather is looking bright and sunny finally!

Here's some good tips about reading the back label of wine bottles:

http://freshfromflorida.wordpress.com/2009/07/08/it-tasted-like-what/ Sometimes, it's better to leave it to the imagination. We feel strongly that your own tastes are more important than whatever the bottle tells you think!

We're looking forward to attending all the Annapolis Valley farmer's markets this coming week. Please join us at Kentville on Wednesday, Berwick on Thursday, Middleton on Friday, and in Wolfville on Saturday. We'll be offering samples at all locations.

And of course, this coming weekend we'll be featuring a food and wine pairing - this week, come try a taste of curry shrimp with our Gold Medal winning 2008 L'Acadie Blanc.

Other fun news from around the world:

Big Launch Day!

Today marks the launch of Gaspereau Vineyard's new sparkling white wine, Crescendo, and our 2008 Riesling. Both are very well-received; Riesling won double gold in this year's international wine competition, and Crescendo was a hit at last night's tasting dinner at Acton's in Wolfville, NS.

As always, come visit the winery for complimentary tours and tastings. Today's a beautiful day in the valley and Riesling won't be around for much longer!

Also, this weekend we'll be tasting Castel with "sexy pizza!" No more information here - you'll have to come into the winery or visit us at the Saturday Wolfville Farmer's Market to find out more.
